On July 10, 2000, This 1959 Cadillac S&S hearse went up for auction on ebay with an opening bid of $1,500.00. |
The most unique feature about this car was that the rear third of the roof could be removed.
This was an extremely rare option, probably the only one made for 1959. It's purpose was to serve as a combination hearse and flower car.
Here you can see all the stainless steel on doors and covering the rear wheel wells commonly found on flower cars. On July 20, 2000, the auction ended with a final selling price of $13,199.00.

For our March meeting, we went to Calico Ghost town in California just outside of Barstow. The kind folks of "Top Gear" magazine came out with us, asked some questions and took a few pics.
It looks very authentic except for the paved street and the folks dressed in modern clothing.

Keri and Jeff having fun as mourners in front of the town's hearse.

Here goes a closer look at the hearse.

And, another look at the hearse.
